At the annual Changing of the Guard evening event
held at Pine Hills Country Club, the Sheboygan Rotary Club presented
a number of awards.. A key part of
the special evening event was the passing of the gavel from current
president Pat Lacey to incoming president Deb Bruckschen.
Other
awards included Rotarian of the Year - Sue Kieffer, Board Member
of the Year
- Tom Liebl, members
with 50 years of service - George
Friedley and Bob Nickodem, and Outgoing Board Members - Ron Spapperi
and Charlene Lammers.
Kieffer was selected as Rotarian of the Year for her efforts
co-chairing a new fundraiser for the club, Survey Says. In
February the club
raised almost $7,000
and has plans to enhance the event for this coming February 5. Kieffer
has been a member of the club for five years and is the owner
of Ad
Associates.
Tom Liebl was chosen as the Board Member of the Year. He has
served as the club’s
treasurer for nine years and has been a club member for over 20 years.
Liebl is the owner of Sheboygan Paper Box Company.
The two members recognized for 50 years of service are both retired, Friedley
now lives in Plymouth and Nickodem resides in Sheboygan. During the course
of their Rotary service, each has held a number of offices and made significant
contributions to the local club. Both are Paul Harris Fellows which means
they
have contributed at least $1,000 to Rotary International; Friedley has
completed three such contributions for a total of $3,000.
Board members serve a three-year term. As Outgoing Board Members, both
Spapperi and Lammers were recognized for the countless volunteer hours
and commitment
to the Rotary organization. Spapperi is retired and lives in Kohler, and
Lammers is the Executive Director of Great Marriages for Sheboygan County.
The event was
attended by nearly 100 members, spouses, and guests.
