Dr. Gary Hatch presents a check

SHEBOYGAN ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS GLOBAL SAFE DRINKING WATER

The Sheboygan Rotary Club presented a check for $3,000 to Thirsting to Serve (T2S) as the club’s 2009 World Community Service project. Dr. Gary Hatch, of Pentair, Inc. in Sheboygan, is a member of the Sheboygan Rotary Club. The Pentair Foundation funded Dr. Hatch’s trip to the 2009, 5th Annual, Thirsting To Serve Water Conference held on March 7 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI.

T2S will use the gift from the Sheboygan Rotary Club to fund placement of HydrAid BioSand water filters as part of its efforts to bring safe drinking water to areas that would otherwise be without it. T2S is affiliated with Rotary International District 6290 in western Michigan. The T2S website reports that 5,000 - 8,000 people (mostly children) die every day from waterborne illnesses.

T2S promotes healthful hygiene and sanitation practices when it places water filters in homes and villages. The water filters greatly reduce or completely eliminate the occurrence of waterborne illnesses. Please visit the T2S website (http://www.thirstingtoserve.org) to see a video about the HydrAid BioSand filters and for more information about the safe drinking water projects.
